Petroglyphs Bayan Zhurek

Petroglyphs Bayan Zhurek

Bayan-Zhurek are low remnant mountains located in the foothills of the Dzhungarskiy Alatau. The absolute height of these mountains is up to 2079 meters above sea level. On the slopes of Bayan-Zhurek, tributaries of the Buyen River originate. The Bayan-Zhurek mountains are known for the petroglyphic complex of the same name. On the rocks and large stones in the southwestern part, hundreds of rock carvings are carved, the plots and style of which differ from other similar monuments in Zhetysu. The main part of the images was carved in the Bronze Age, and some researchers identify the most ancient group of the Eneolithic era (3rd millennium BC).
